About project:
"Digitcitizen" is a mobility project for youth workers. Activity consists of 7 days training course (10.06 - 16.06.2022, arrival day 09.06.2022 and departure day 17.06.2022), what will be held in Balvu city. The training will gather 18 participants from Belgium, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Poland, Turkey (3 participants per country) and two experienced trainer from Latvia.
The project aims to equip youth workers with digital citizenship competence as a tool to motivate and support young people in staying socially and politically active.
Objectives of the project: -popularize the concept of digital citizenship; - rethink the role of youth worker in the digital era; -raise the digital literacy competence among the participants, and - further on - among the young people they work with; -learn to orientate better in media world - from classic media to electronic, social media; -improve the critical thinking ability as a part of digital citizenship; - develop ideas for non-formal education activities within digital citizenship to be organized for young people; - consider the emergency of so called "civic tech", which uses technology to address various aspects of digital citizenship.
At the beginning of the project idea it was build up on perspective of youth work practice. Nowadays ir important to
Engaging, Connecting and Empowering young people and in this information era is important to clearly understand
information, be responsible digital citizen and also responsibly create information. We involved partners see importance
of non-formal education in these field and we us youth workers want to become competent and together explore digital
citizenship topic. Being competent in digital citizenship competence we will be ready through non-formal education
transfer our competence to our youth and prepare them for their present and future.
