About project:
The lifelong learning approach explains that a person is fully educated when participating in all three types of learning activities: formal, non-formal, and informal. The ERASMUS+ program focuses on learning mobilities that provide the opportunity to engage in non-formal education, emphasizing learning by doing, learning to learn, learning to be, and learning to be together.
How about non-formal education? As more newcomers join the ERASMUS+ field, do they possess the necessary competencies to become non-formal educators? We are not suggesting the need for institutions to specifically prepare non-formal education educators. Instead, we aim to highlight the necessity of raising the quality of non-formal education activities. To achieve this, we need training in non-formal education that enhances the quality of these activities. Non-formal education is the cornerstone of the ERASMUS+ Youth project, which includes a training course focused on non-formal education.
The aim of the project is to educate youth workers about non-formal education through engagement, connection, and empowerment.
Objectives of the project:
- To stimulate participants to reflect on non-formal education by experimenting with various non-formal educational methods.
- To understand the principles, theories, and practices of non-formal education within the ERASMUS+ program and how these can be used as an effective toolbox.
- To improve participants' ETS competencies for working internationally.
The project activity consists of a six-day training course (August 6-11, 2024). The training course program includes various non-formal education methods such as introductions, getting to know each other, team building, principles of non-formal education in the ERASMUS+ program, understanding learning activities, defining non-formal education, exploring its principles, and sharing best practices.
Youth workers involved in our project will be aged 18 and above, from our partner youth organizations in the program countries of Europe. There will be three participants per country from Latvia, Romania, Türkiye, the Republic of North Macedonia, Lithuania, Italy, and Greece.
